We'll tell you if a heated driveway isn't worth it.
Small Ontario company. 10+ years installing. We give honest assessments before you spend a dollar — not after.
How we got here
Mike McCann spent years in solar and exterior work across Ontario, from roofing and siding to solar installs. Those winters on job sites showed him what homeowners actually need when snow stacks up.
He kept seeing heated driveway systems sold without a straight assessment: wrong system types, poor cable spacing, and sub-bases that would fail. Homeowners paid for results that never showed up.
SunFlow Heated Driveways started as a division of SunFlow Solar & Exteriors to fix that. It means honest recommendations, even turning down jobs when a driveway isn’t a good fit.
In January 2026, Brinn Norman joined as partner to lead the heated driveways division. Together they bring 10+ years in Ontario construction and back every install with product-dependent warranty coverage that typically ranges from 5-20 years.

What we actually believe
Not a mission statement. Just the things that shape how we work.
Honesty before the sale
If a heated driveway isn’t right for your property or budget, we’ll say so. We’d rather have that conversation upfront than install a system that disappoints.
The quote is the price
Fixed-scope quotes, full stop. The price on your quote is the price on your invoice. If scope is uncertain, we walk away rather than surprise you later.
Warranty coverage based on your selections
Coverage varies by the products and controls selected for your project. Most systems fall within a 5-20 year range across workmanship and manufacturer-backed components, with terms documented in writing.
As-built photos on every job
We photograph the full cable or tubing layout before the pour. You receive the images as a permanent record of where elements sit, useful for renovations years later.
We know Ontario winters

Why we tell people not to buy sometimes
A heated driveway is a real investment. It makes sense for a lot of Ontario properties. It doesn't make sense for all of them. Here's when we'll tell you to skip it.
You get fewer than 10 snowfalls a year
If your area sees 5 to 10 snowfalls a season, the math rarely works out. A heated driveway is a significant upfront investment. At that frequency, a snow removal contract at $800 to $1,700 a season can be the smarter spend without tying up capital.
Your budget is limited
Electric systems require a meaningful upfront investment for a typical driveway. Below a certain threshold, the system is usually undersized or built with compromises that fail in a real Ontario winter. We won't quote work we can't stand behind.
Your driveway has drainage or soil problems
Poor drainage means water pools under the slab, and unstable soil shifts the sub-base. Either condition shortens the life of a heated system and can affect manufacturer warranty terms on certain components. We check for both before we quote.
The driveway needs major remediation first
If the existing concrete or asphalt is failing, it may need to come out entirely before a heated system goes in. That changes the cost picture and the timeline. We'll tell you that before you commit to anything.
We've had these conversations with homeowners who were ready to sign. Some of them thanked us later. A few were frustrated in the moment. Either way, it's the right call. We're not in the business of selling systems that won't perform.
The people behind the work
Two people. Every job accountable to both of them.
Mike McCann
CEO & Founder
Mike started in solar and exterior work. Roofing, siding, solar installs across Ontario. He built SunFlow Solar & Exteriors first, then added the heated driveways division when he saw how badly the market needed someone doing it honestly.
He's on every job site personally. Not managing from an office. On site, checking the sub-base, reviewing the cable layout before the concrete truck arrives. If something's not right, he catches it before it's buried.
Over 10 years in Ontario construction. He's turned down jobs. He's told homeowners their property wasn't right. He'd rather lose the sale than install something that won't perform.
Brinn Norman
Partner, Heated Driveways Division
Brinn Norman joined as partner in January 2026 and heads the heated driveways division. A lawyer by training, he brings a different kind of rigour to how SunFlow operates — contracts are clear, warranties mean what they say, and every quote is a commitment.
Day-to-day operations, client relationships, job coordination. When you call SunFlow, you're likely talking to Brinn. Both he and Mike are accountable for every job that goes out under the SunFlow name.
